I want to extend by concrete driveway and the concrete is pretty expensive for 8 yards of concrete. Is there a less expensive way I could extend it other than with concrete?

You could use crushed limestone for a base then top that with a designer "clean" stone for a top.

Either or its always a change in looks and not the best looking differences.

New concrete will also look very different in color.

Is the extension down the side for double parking or is it more of an Look and part of that L is going to be New? Or is it for a better turn around?

They have some new products ( OK new to me) made from ground up old tires that I found interesting. And environmental friendly
