What else besides pregnancy causes skipped periods? I've skipped 5 months, but not pregnant.

Have you been to your doctor??
A number of things can cause a woman to miss periods- stress, sudden weight loss/gain, drugs/medications, or taking birth control pills that are too low in estrogen. Some birth control also causes missed periods (ie. Depo Provera, Norplant).
You need to get to a doctor, ASAP for a checkup.

Tons of things...
Poor nutrition, poor sleep, illness, anxiety, changes in hormones, big changes in weight, stress, and on and on and on... any big changes in your life this last year? How old are you?

I'm eighteen years old. The cause could be any of those things... I've been a bit stressed, I stopped taking the pill because I hated it, I gained weight and now losing it... The main reason I started taking the pill was because I had irregular periods and it helped regulate it. But why would it be messed up in the first place?

Have you seen a gynocologist or an endocriniologist.
Could be pcos? Hormone imbalance ? The list is endless your best bet is to go to your doctor and have him run some test. That way you'll be able to pinpoint the problem.
Good luck:)
