Have you defined the communication port properly in Windows? Usually these are already defined, but someone could have trashed them.

Also, can you tell me the type of connection that you are trying to use to attach the printer to the PC.

Finally, have you tried to run any on-board printer tests? You do this by powering on the printer an then disconnecting the printer from the PC. The printer should have a diagnostics menu or maintenance menu.
