Hi,

I came to US in jan and have been sharing room with few guys, when I came here I told them I am going to stay here temporarily and move out he agreed since then I have been paying all the rent and utilities he also took 200$ deposit from me, now I want to shift to some other place he is not returning my deposit ,also he says you have to pay the rent till the lease end.I have already given him the notice start of month.

I have not signed any lease either with landlord or with my roommate. What is best I can do? Will their be any harm if I want to move out the apartment.

Suppose if their arise a need to call the cops will I be in trouble for any reasons?

Please help me with sincere suggestion.

Thanks & regards

You would be on a month to month rental from them. AS long as you gave them 30 day notice to move you can move.

This is civil not criminal, so unless you steal, damage their property, the police officer will watch you take you stuff out.
