Okay, so I have been on this seemingly endless cycle and I would love some help. I want to have a good job, one that will support a family, but it seems like over and over again I have failed.
I will give you a short synopses of my career so far:
1st job out of college I worked for a company -- started as a clerk. I was really good I was usually done with my job by 10am. I looked for other things to do, was accommodated... worked in 4 different departments in less than a year. The company shut down in 2001.
2nd job met the national merchandising manager for the company - large furniture firm -- he interviewed me. Told me I was good for management. I worked there for a year and a couple months, promoted to store manager, promoted again in a year to a larger store. Worked there for 4 years. Did okay, my later to be exwife wanted to move back to Colorado, and so we did.
3rd job was as a clerk/underwriter for a mortgage company in Denver. I did okay was promoted a couple times and ended up as an account executive. The company closed down in late 2006. Worked for them 1yr and a half. Bounced around the Mortgage business till early 2007 and began a career as a financial planner, what I thought my wife wanted.(really could add more companies here --- but I was in the same field.)
4th Job licensed financial professional still have the licenses, I didn't do as well as I wanted. Worked there till the late 2007 - wife asked for a divorce, couldn't work it out. Luckily, I was asked to work as an underwriter to get a steady paycheck a month later, and began work as a large account underwriter.
5th Job Large Account underwriter for largest comp company in Colorado. Worked there for a year, increased my personal book of business by 5 million dollars. Helped team get profit sharing. Was asked to resign - because my boss felt she couldn't trust me! Resigned per request.
6th Job worked at Dish in the call center. Was actually making more money that as an underwriter. Worked there for 3 months, was asked to think about management. I really don't think I have the guts for management, the furniture company left a bad taste. The hours really really sucked, and they treat people kind of bad. Was asked by a small business owner to be a Project Manager, as opposed to just a manager, I jumped at the chance!
7th Job just laid off by small business owner as he was wrong about the work that he had lined up. I made it there 40 days! Holy crap my life is going down down... what am I doing wrong!? Help, I want a nice steady job, where I can support a family and my future wife (who ever she may be) will not feel freaked out that I can't hold down a job!
I've only been out of school since 1999! It's killing me!
AAAAAHAHAHHAHAHAH
