I adopted a dog from the local shelter over 5 months ago.(shes a year old now) Recently she has been peeing in the house. At first I thought it was submissive peeing but lately she will just be laying down on the floor and her leg will lift a little bit and a little bit of pee comes out. I don't understand it. Her most recent pee accident was just this morning, we were laying down on the bed (I wasn't petting her or anything, nothing was happening) and I look over and she peed! ON THE BED! She has never done that before. So I am very confused.
*NOTE: she is peeing just a little bit. So I know its not because I'm not taking her out enough, she isn't "releasing the bladder"
I have tried trainging her as if it was submissive peeing and training her for excitable pee but nothing has changed at all.

I'm thinking I might have to take her to the vet to make sure it isn't a bladder problem.

Hi, gottalovelabs, female dogs go through some of the same problems we do. Urinary tract infections, bladder infections, etc. So it could be she has no control over that and I hope you weren't chastising her. She probably felt really bad about the accident the same way my Taffy did when she was ill when her kidneys got hit. She is fine now, but the same problem occurred.

Yes, take her to her to the vet and find out.

Funny story, but not so funny when it happened. When we came back from Mexico a few years ago, I left the house in the care of a lady (to take care of my mom, my son and two dogs). When I came back, my Walker Hound very nonchalantly came upstairs with me to unpack my bag, jumped up on the bed, and URINATED while looking at me, as much as to say, 'this is what I thought of you leaving me!'. After complete shock, I realized why she had done it.

Regards, tick

Thank you. I will definitely go take her to the vet. And I don't know what you mean by chastising her. I wasn't punishing her or hitting her or anything especially because if she has an infection or something of that sort.
Thank you for that help
