I need your help! I got a settlement offer from Amex on last Friday for my 10 yrs old debts. Since I know that the statute of the limitation of this deb through my state has expired last 7 years ago and it's not show on my credit report either. But the problem is when I received the settlement letter and I can't recognize it, so I log on and registered my zombie credit card on the Amex's website and use the reference code from the settlement letter to access the website.
Is it will re-start my time again ? Will them can sue me again ?
Please advise

Thank you for your reply.
No. I didn't make any payment. My bad I just log-on to the website to see the account history only.

On the letter said
This offer is good until May 9, 09. Take advantage of this limited time offer by calling us today at 1877-354-1148. If you plan to send us a payment directly, you must call us and let us know you have accept this offer. Please use the coupon below when making a direct payment.
If you prefer to make a payment via the internet, please log on to www.americanexpress.com/waytopay, using the reference code 22142 to access the site and complete the payment.
Is that mean when I register my card and log on, I acknowledge the debt or accept the offer ?
Thank you

If you did not use the account (charge something, which you did not do) OR make a payment (which you did not do), you did not extend the Statute.
My concern would be that the creditor MIGHT use your information to make a withdrawal from your account. You MUST notify your bank that you do not want any payments to this creditor made from your account.
And you have to do that as quickly as possible.

Thank you!
One more question, do I need to send them a letter to stop contact me since the statute of limitation has expired ?

I'd first make sure that the bank/credit card situation is covered.
Then, yes, you can send them a letter.
