My son is interested in getting into the trade of construction electronics. What skills, schooling will it require? How much money can he potentially earn?

Are we talking "Building automation" or something else?

Here is a quick example search that deals with requirements:\\http://siemens.taleo.net/servlets/CareerSection?art_ip_action=FlowDispatcher&flowTypeNo=13&pageSeq=2&reqNo=86323&art_servlet_language=en&csNo=10000

Do you mean Home Automation, Audio/Video Electronics, Acess Control, Lighting Control, Security systems and combining all to work together? If so, I can help.

You didn't mention your son's age (or school level), which area of electronics he's interested in, or where you're located (which country) – all these things will influence the answer.

If he's at secondary ('high') school, he should take maths and science subjects, particularly Physics. If he's finishing secondary and about to start tertiary (uni or tech college), he should go to a tech college if he wants to 'build and fix' or a university if he wants to 'design'.

Without more specifics from you, I can't be more specific than this.
