I got $10,000 from my firm as relocation expense. It is possible to put this as my moving expense since I did not keep track of the spending during my move. My firm told me all this amount was non tax before but happen to put this on my W2 and withheld tax for this amount later during my first pay check. Also there was a gap of 6 months between when I was recruited and when I joined the firm so travelled to india during that period. So please tell me how efficiently I can deduct the moving expenses. Can I deduct the entire $10,000 since I think I spent more than that considerinig that I went from CA to india and then to GA.

Thanks,

CA to GA via India is not allowed moving expenses. Do form 3903 and put actual expenses. Read: Your U.S. Tax Return: Moving Expenses (http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/02/moving-expenses.html)
