Hi everyone!

I've been out on the dating scene for a little while now that I've been released back into the big big ocean. So far all of the guys that I have had contact with recently have an elementary type of humor.

For example, I was outside of a house with one of the guys and I got startled when his dog brushed up against my leg. I didn't know he had a dog! Therefore, I gave a little gasp and jumped a little bit. After the guy kept repeatedly telling me that I was afraid of dogs... even though I refuted it and told him a few stories about dogs in my life.

Then, this other guy told me that I'm an insect killer and that if he had a pet he'd keep it far away from me. (I have been working on a science project that involves using preserved flies). I explained to him why we have to use flies and the end goal of the project, but he usually makes some sort of remark about killing insects whenever we talk.

I'm wondering why I keep meeting these sort of people. Is there something in my personality that is attracting these types of guys? Am I hanging around the wrong crowd? Is there something wrong with me?

I can understand that if I really liked the second guy, I should tell him how much his sense of humor bothers me and see if we have the potential to work out. However, I feel that with either of these guys we wouldn't be able to work out because the only kind of conversation we might have is all joking around rather than about semi-serious topics or just what's going on in our lives.

Is there something wrong with me?

Only if you are mentioning dogs or insects right off the bat every time you meet.

That's bizarre. Hmm, one possibility is that they have been reading the numerous seduction articles that are available online and fixate on one thing in an attempt to be cocky and funny (http://www.datingclass.com/dating/cocky-and-funny.shtml) and then end up wearing it out. Or, they just may have nothing to say.

How old are you? I'm assuming they are all high school boys?

Usually a guy teases a girl because they are attracted to them one way or another. Otherwise, they are just immature.

Once in University, age does not matter as much anymore. It all depends on the person. They could be 19 and more mature than a 30 year old. If they bother you, then just avoid talking to them and talk to someone else.

I am thinking that you are correct in what you say Scleros. I just wish I could meet a guy who can be conversant on an intelligent level. I read the website link you posted and I have to say that I found it to be a shocking article. Rather than finding a guy who has these "skills" as attractive, I find them a little offensive. I'm not sure if all women would take the same stance as me on this type of humor. I'm glad you gave me the link! Now, I have a better perspective of where these guys are coming from!

Eh, don't be too hasty in dismissing the guys, loneliness and solitude can motivate one to explore avenues that would otherwise not be entertained. Next time they mention dogs or insects, ask if they plan on wearing that one out first before moving on to another.
