I would like to construct a coaxial heat exchanger using copper pipe and possibly copper tubing. My intent is to use the exchanger to recover heat from my AC compressor to heat / pre-heat domestic hot water.

I would appreciate any ideas or techniques that other members may have on how to accomplish this with common and reedily available plumbing and AC components.

Why go through the hassle of constructing one when you can purchase one already to install, (see image) Check out AC Heat Exchangers at;

I've installed many of them in my area with no complaints and the nicest thing about them is that in time they pay for themselves. Regards, Tom
