:eek:Purchased a home with above grond pool. Last year at pool closing time... Lowered water below skimmer, discontineued using the pump(unhooked all hoses, etc)covered with a winter cover, had it floating on top ofvthe water, removed all the rain water and snow as it melted with a submergeable pump and after removing the cover to open pool for this year the water is about 1.5 feet in the pool.what happened?? Did I mess the pool up?? Is it safe to fill up and use again?? What kind of info can I get on those plastic pillows or whatever they are that go under the winter cover at closing time. Will they help keep the water from being pumped throgh the cover?? I NEED HELP AND SOME ADVICE.. [email protected]

You should be OK. What can happen is the rain water gets trapped above the winter cover and freezes. The weight of the rain water and ice press down and causes your pool water to overflow via the skimmer. You should be fine to refill to the skimmer and start you pump.filter. Next year buy a pillow for under the cover but even they can fail.
