Hi everyone

I just got permanent residency of america and I am wondering when I can be able to get all the benefits that come with the green card. I heard that people have to wait for a year to get the benefits, is that true?

Thank you

Permanent residency with green card in the United States or Canada? Big difference, ktang.

Hi again ktang. Geography should be a prerequisite for anyone applying for a green card to a country on the North American continent. I am assuming you mean United States which is not America, but shares space with Canada on the North American continent. I suggest you look at an atlas.

Hi tickle

Sorry for causing such a confusion. I am a permanent resident of the united states of america, and to be exact, New York state.

You should have moved to Canada. We have socialized medicine here and the waiting period is 3 months for new immigrants. I don't think the US has any benefits similar to ours. I may be wrong.

I think your regular benefits are up to your employer as far as waiting period is concerned.
