I was born in 1965. Members of my family are planning to apply to register our births in In Ireland to be come Irish citizens. Looking over my certificate of birth that received from the vitial statisics office of my home state, niether of my parents are listed on my certificate. All information on the paper is correct.
1. Why are my parents not listed? I am not adopted, I look and act too much like both of my parents. I was able to get my passport with it.
2. How do I prove that my parents are my parents? I need to show lineage from my Grandmother, who was born in Ireland, to myself.
3. What other ways can I prove my Irish lineage?
Thank you

That is VERY odd. Were you born in a hospital? Having no mother listed on your B/C is certainly unusual.

Were there any circumstances around your birth that you were aware of? Any chance there is someone of your parents generation available that might have some insight?

You could have gone through a closed adoption. And if that's the case then you may never know. If the people your speaking of are your real parents then a DNA test would prove it.

Yes, I was born in my hometown hospital by C- section. My parents were surprised that they were not listed. I thought maybe they didn't list parents names on the certificate but kept the original BC on file with them listed. There are no special circumstances that I have heard of.

I have never seen a state issued birth certificate that did not at least list the mother.
