Hey guys I got a test tomorrow so hopefully someone will help me out with this and answer it haha =P

okay so in elimation.. lets use this problem.

5x-8y=25
-x+4y=-7

My main question is do I put it in y=mx+b form? I know to multiply 4y by 2 to make it 8y, but do I put it into y=mx+b first?

Please get back to me I got a HUGE test tomorrow. THANKS!

5x-8y=25
-x+4y=-7

5x-8y = 25
-2x+8y = -14

Eliminte the ys
You get

3x= 11
x = 3 2/3
____________________________________

5x-8y=25

(5*3 2/3)-8y = 25

55/3
=18 1/3-8y =25
-8y = 25 -18 1/3
-8y = 6 2/3
-y = ( 20/3)/8
-y = 20/24
-y = 5/6
y = -5/6
