I have a side yard that the ground slops away more that I would like. I would like to build a retaining wall on this side about 1 to 2 ft. above ground. And then level out the ground to it. I would then like to wrap it in rock and put a 6 ft rod iron fence on it. I would really appreciate it if someone could direct me on how wide/deep a footing for all of that ought to be?
Thanks, and to all those who are always so helpful I really appreciate this site.

I need to know what kind of rock you are using in order to know the width of the rock ledge. Is this real stone or fake?

I have not committed to one or the other. I am guessing that fake would be cheaper and easier to install. So fake.

Sorry I need to ask another question on you Geo temps there for frost/freezing. This will directly relate to depth of footer and width.
I will stay on here so I can get what you need in info. I'm a Mason/concrete contractor and can help out easily here.
The wrought iron fence. Are you planning to mount that in the top of the wall/cap?
How long is the wall?
