View Full Version : Can a father come into a 10 yr olds life without even knowing him?

He left when I was pregnant so I Put child support on him and he has been paying so now 10 yrs later he wants to introduce him to his new family and not even he knows him! Can he take me to court on this?

Yes, he has a right to visitation and can go to court to exercise those rights. The judge will determine an appropriate visiation arrangement for the situation and you will be in contempt if you don't comply.

Yes he can. Fathers are important to their children and children have rights to have relationships with both their parents. Unless the parent is otherwise unfit it is always in the child's best interest to have, develop, and maintain a relationship with both his/her mother and father. All he has to do is petition the court for a visitation schedule and the Judge will sign an order.

Sure. Chances are his visitation will be gradually added - supervised at first, growing into unsupervised and eventually overnight or weekend.
