Some think the software (like Paint, Wordpad, Solitare etc) that comes with Windows is missing when only the shortcuts to the software are missing (the actual executable files are intact). Once you locate those files you can create new shortcuts from the context menu (right click the program file for the context menu). Once you create a shortcut to the application you can use the "Start" button's context menu to "explore" the program menu for "All users" and drag the shortcuts from the Windows desktop to the desired folder.
Many of the programs that are normally listed in the accessory menu are located in the \Windows\System32 folder on your boot drive (usually C: ).
If the actual executable files are missing access the "Add or remove programs" applet on the Windows XP control panel, select the "Add/Remove Windows components" button in the left pane, uncheck the boxes for the missing applications (yes uncheck[/B)] and complete the process to "remove" the missing components. Then use the "Add/Remove Windows components" wizard to recheck the desired components - which normally will lead to their re installation. If your Windows was [B]not installed by the computer manufacturer you might need the Windows update/installation disk
