Hello,

I have a new Dell Laptop with Windows Vista home Edition installed on it,how ever I forgot the windows password.

I did not create a password reset disk or USB to recover the password... :(

If you can please help me if there is any other way to reset the password then that would be a great help

Thanks and regards,
Harish

Well... this depends. Did you just forget the system administrator password or the user password? If the prior, then just Administrative Tools > Local Users and Groups > Users > Administrator > RT Click > Set Password. If the ladder, then try the ophcrack live distro. I personally haven't used it but it is just a hash reader and should work fine.

Mr Wingeek,

Thanks for your reply but I think you did not understand the issue properly.

Im not able to login to the system so there is no point in getting to Admin tools so if you can help me out in any other process that would be great help

Ophcrack is a live cd, so you can just boot up off the cd without going into Windows. If the BIOS is locked, then there should be a "hard reflash" option built in.
