My mother received a summons for a old credit card that I couldn't pay. However I do not live there, or even in that town. Is it legal to do this? To give a summons to another person other than the person that is being summond?
Also the man who served my mother read my summons?
I think this sounds fishy. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to AMHD. States have different statutes pertaining to who may be served. Just curious: how did the plaintiff get your mother's address for you?

If you lived at that address and reported that address to the CC issuer, then it may be valid.

But that's really moot. Your mother informed you of the summons, therefore you were served. Unless you want your mom to perjure herself, deal with the suit.
