My husband and I are residents of Florida. My husband is sole owner of a defunct construction company. We had 40 contracts to build homes in SW Florida. The Bank (same one for all clients) pulled the loans. Consequently the construction company is insolvent and we no longer are drawing any salary from company (obviously) WE are living on Social Security only. We have been served summons from two different companies , with about 10 others to go. We do not know whether we should bankrupt personally and corporately or just allow the courts to enter judgements. We have a 99 and 98 cars. The construction equipment and trucks, etc. have all been repossessed. The furniture we have was furnished with the house we bought in 2/2008 before our credit went south. It is a very modest home and we are thankful to have shelter. Is there any advice we can get? We don't have any funds for an attorney -our Visas are all cancelled and our HELOC was cancelled also, so we haven't access to any.

Unfortunately this has to be answered by an Attorney will full and complete knowledge of how things are titled, the name(s) in which you ran the business, personal liability for the business, all sorts of things. This is nothing anyone can guess at.
