Hi,

My Visa status is L1B and I came in US in July 25 2008 and my wife and my kid came in October 2008. I have SSN and has applied for my wife's SSN. My kid doesn't have any SSN or TIN number.

Taxes have been deducted monthly from my salary by my employer. Am I entitled for any tax credits or refund. Please advise.

Thanks,

Kaushik Khajuria

Yes you are! Contact the IRS regarding your wife and child and they should tell you a form to file with regarding using them as a dependent on your taxes.

You can file joint return as residents and claim your kids as dependents. You must wait to file your tax return till you complete SPT in 2009.
