I currently rent a property in Ca. Last week a notice was tapped to the door that the home is in forcloser and will be sold on march 26th. I have been paying my rent since dec. After checking public record I found that the Mortgage has not been paid since last July. Should I continue to pay my rent, and what are my rights?

Thank you,
Olivia

How long have you rented the property? There is a sticky nte at the top of this forum, that deals with this issue including a link to a California law that MAY apply to you.

CA is the only state I know of that has protection for a residential tenant when the landlord doesn't pay the mortgage.

However, if you don't qualify under that law, then you do need to pay rent as long as the landlord owns the property.
