Dawn Hall has a recipe book
Dawn Hall Cook Books - Busy People's Cooking™ (http://www.dawnhallcookbooks.com/books.htm)

Eat lots of green vegetables
Cinnamon is good too.
Also use Stevia or agave sweetener
Splenda, Sweet and Low and Equal are all bad for you

I have oodles of them If there is something you have a taste for let me know
My doctor and my diabetes teacher told me that the most important thing to do is remember to keep my arbs at 30 for each meal (3 times a day) and at 15 for my snacks(2 a day)
Just limit the carbs and keep them in that area you should be fine I still make the usual things I just make sure to limit my portion.
I use Splenda and have not had any issues.
I gave up smoking and sodas I do have an occasional Fresca diet soda as a treat but for someone who drank 4 cokes a day. I was diagnosed last April 15th I have changed a LOT since I was diagnosed.
My numbers were in the 500's and my A1C was 12%
I am down in the low hundreds and upper 90's now and my A1C is down to 5 %
All this was done with the help of Spark and the educational person and the changes in my diet

I use a site called Spark people Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople (http://www.sparkpeople.com/)
To enter my foods in that I eat to help me keep track of what my total carbs are At first I was not eating enough protein but once I balanced it out my numbers are down and my energy has went up. There are diabetic groups and recipes on Spark too.

Here are a few places I go to get my recipes and ideas.
