NY state child support and my SSD, land and house. :(

My Ex wife got child support until my Daughter was 18 and out of school she quit at 16, anyway she has come after me for child support because in NY 21 is legal age and how long I have to pay child support and of course I did not know that. She has filed for back support now at 6 month behind past her 18th birth day. My daughter was working and had her boyfriend living with her and they were both paying rent to my Ex I have this on tape. I live in KY and NY and KY are both one party consent for taping a conversation.

I make $984 and I have my own apartment here and my fiancée has had to file for SSD so my check is the only one running the household. We are getting married this April 5th also.

Here is the big question I own land in NY and a Mobile Home along with my Ex, will child support put a lean on the property or come after me and my SSD check. I do not care about the land or mobile home we pad $27.600 for in 1996 it was new when we bought it and the land is 1.8 acres and deeded to the two of us.

My daughter works and my ex is a huge liar too. I am hoping they lean the property and leave me alone.

Child support is the exception to just about every rule - yes, NY can and possibly will lien against real property. SSD can also be liened.

Have you defended yourself in the support action. While its true that NY extends support until 18, if the child is self supporting, support can be ended. So you might get out of it on that basis.

Also where was the support order written. If it wasn't NY, then, if the order said 18, you may still get it stopped.
