Can someone give me the details on applying board and batten over old brick. I wish to apply the wooden siding on the one story back extension of our 103 year old story and a half home.

The cheap way is use exterior ply and stand up installation. Use furring strips to cover ply butt seams, space battens every 12"

If doing it in ply as "boards" tap con furring strips every 16 oc. on the brick Install ply. Add battens over ply seams and every 12"

If doing it in pine 1x12s Tap con horizontal furring strips every 16 oc. On the brick Apply 12" boards then battens over the 1x12" boards.

Not sure of the budget there.

If you are buying the actual batten and board siding then follow the instructions on the manf package. You will need furring strips no matter what.

I gave you the first orginials ways batten and board was done.
