To further clarify my 1st question. If I tell Exempt employee to stay home and wait do I still have to pay them? If I don't pay them do they lose their exempt status? Which then opens us up to back voertime pay.

Salary employees must be paid their whole weekly salary if they work any part of the week. If they are off a whole week they do not need to be paid. If you do not pay them you will be in violation of Federal FLSA laws.
