OK I got a question, I got a 80GB play station 3(PS3) and when I recently opened it and was checking it out it only said I got like 74 GB (not sure but less than 80GB ) why did'nt it give me the whole 80GB ?

The hard drive is pre loaded with some info, data, and probably samples. Most devices are like this.
360 does not have the full 20GB
iPod touch doenst give you the full 16GB

Etc
Etc

In essence its because some of that space has to be used by the hard drive itself to keep order(very basic reason, but should be more understandable) so in essence the larger the hard drive, the more of that space it needs for "organization". Its not so much preloaded apps or files that is taking up that space but the hard drive itself.

Oh I get it so it took like 6 GB just to organize everything

In essence that is exactly it, if you want to really know more about the how and why look at the wiki on hard drives. Lets just say parts of it get so advanced that you have to know physics to make sense of it(the current hard drive technology that allows so much data to be stored came from some sort of wave theory that won the scientist a nobel prize.)

Wish I could edit, I can't remember for sure if it was wave theory or some other high level math, but whatever it was he won the nobel prize for physics that year.

Anyway I knew wave theory was wrong sorry for posting bad info. It's a quantum effect known as spintronics. Knew after I posted it was wrong and remembered later. So bad me no cookie
