I looked back several pages but didn't see the question I have. I have a 1930 home that I'm almost finished with the basement. I want to ad a bathroom downstairs. The main sewer line runs from the upstairs straight down into the floor. I don't want to have to cut the concrete and then the old cast iron pipe to ad the toilet drain. There's a clean out barely above the concrete. Can I raise the toilet up about 5-8 inches and run it into the clean out?

It is illegal "by code" to install a pipe into a cleanout. Your best bet might be to install a macerator pump type toilet/shower, etc...

... Or, you and cut out that clean out, replace it with santitary T that will be the actual connection for all fixtures in your new bathroom. Than, build up your floor . You can install that clean out on top of this sanitary T.

That looks perfect! There's already a nipple coming from the main that the laundry water goes into. I think it's 1 1/2".
Do you have any idea of price on those? I'm doing the bathroom myself.

I only have 6 1/2' ceilings so I really don't want to raise the floor if at all possible.

You cannot have it both ways: either break the concrete or lose 8"...

I think we are talking about $700ish... with the toilet included! Can add sink easily. No need to raise floor or break concrete... ;)

Myself. I was a first year pipefitter apprentice at our local paper mill before the eliminated the program, so I'm very comfortable doing simple jobs such as this. And I've already remodeled our upstairs bathroom.
THanks for your help! I'm going with the saniflo. That'll save me a ton of time and money overall.
