Have you ever felt "pressured" into a relationship? I'm starting to wonder if my ex was "pressured" to be in a relationship with me. By "pressured," I mean that his friends teased and cajoled him to ask me out, and also told him to give me a call.
If this is true, then he's really weaker than I thought and will give in to peer pressure.
On the other hand I pretty much felt that he did what he wanted to do and didn't do what he didn't want to do.
Anyway, back to the real question, have you ever felt "pressured" (not forced) to be in a relationship?

I'm not but it happens.
1> Being casually teased by friends do works because you start to believe on what's good in their eyes. Everyone loves approval.
2> Being 30 yet unmarried. Specially women who has biological clock.
3> Being courted or liked by a person who's too nice on you. When a person is too nice, sometimes you learn to like the person back or return all the favors done to you.

Do you think that this type of relationship tends to crash and burn rather quickly?

We can't say. A lot of relationships that doesn't involve teasing from people around still ends quickly.
Guy's ego soars when he's being teased, told that this woman likes him a lot and might as well try to give it a shot, even a guy is just challenged by his friends if he has enough charms to ask a girl out. . If he does, then at least he has little thing for a girl. Good thing is, people like you for him instead of bad mouthing you. If it's ABSOLUTELY ZERO, then he will never consider asking you out. At least he tried. Like any other chances, there will be only 2 results: Positive and Negative.

You have a lot of questions, but that a great way to learn, and gain insights.
Some females can be persistent, but if it ain't happening, it ain't happening.
