I have been on probabtion for 12 months my total term is 18 months. I'm on probation for domestic violence and no I am not a beater my very ex boyfriend assaulted me so I returned the favor but unfortuanly for me I left before the police were called and wasn't even aware he pressed charges until 1 year later when I got pulled over, anyway I took a plea bargain so that this would not be permantly on my record. My question is I booked a vacation to Mexico before I even knew I would be placed on Probabtion it is for my best friends wedding I am the maid of honor. I have completed all of my requirements for probabtion and paid all fines within the first 6 months now I am on non reporting probabtion but I still have to once a month drug and alcohol test. I was wondering what anyone's opion is on me leaving the country I am not dumb I did request through my probabtion officer and she is not allowed to ask the judge until 30 days before my trip. But here is the problem if I don't cancel at least 45 days before my trip I lose 2500 and probably my best friend considering I told her I could stand up in here wedding had I of known when she asked that I was going to be on probation I would have said no. So what does everyone think I have basically been a model probationer! Do you think the judge will allow me to go my probabtion officer also told me she would let the judge know that she approves of me going! Thanks for all your help

If your PO has already said she approves I don't think there is anything anyone else can add. Your PO knows you and all of the circumstances and no one here does.

Of course, to be 100% sure and not lose any money you have no choice but to cancel the trip.

Thanks Judy for you answer I have been so stressed out about this that I actually just contacted an attorney. According to him my probabtion states that I cannot leave the state or country without the judges permission, it does not state that I cannot leave I just need permission so he told me that worse case scanerio if he says no we can appeal his decision to another judge and mandate that he informs us of why he dosen't want me leaving, taking into consideration that I have fully complied with all of my probabtion. But you are right the only way to be a 100% is to cancel the trip so I may do that and if I am allowed to go I could just try and re- book the trip although it seems silly to me because the judge wants to know all the details! How can I give him all the details if I haven't even booked my trip. Anyway thanks for your advice!
