Brazilian Koa, also known as Tigerwood. I'm thinking of getting this installed in a LR, DR, Hall and BR and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with it. It's unique and gorgeous and I don't think any other wood is going to make me happy after seeing this one. I have a pretty small place but with the economy and housing values plummeting I'm a little worried about dumping all this money into my condo. There is carpet now but I do not want to replace with carpet because of the chemicals. I don't want wool because I seem to have a recurring moth problem. I considered tile and I plan to put it in in rest of the condo but I can't imagine it would be a great selling point when the time comes. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Brazilian Koa seems to be at a lot of liquidators in the Toronto area. So I guess it wasn't a good choice for some investors looking to up date their townhouses, homes, etc.

But my question would be, while so many people are losing houses, why would you be updating your condo which would be on the bottom of my list to purchase should I need accommodation in this economy?

Save your money, put in something cheaply (but well chosen) if you have to update for your own convenience.

IMO

My carpet was damaged and I'm planning to use my insurance allowance to upgrade.

Well you know, tami, upgarding can be costly and you should put in something that is well accepted as a floor covering that everyone recognizes. I have had excellent results with good grade hardwood floating floors. Mine are very attractive. I chose a dark mahogany because I like the white occasional carpets I scattered around on top of it which are very portable, should I move.
