I just bought a wireless laptop and a wireless router to connect to my PC. Do I have to do anything to the laptop to connect to the internet?

You need to secure the network. Here's a thread that was posted (not by me) for someone. It might be helpful.

What brand and model number is your router?
Are you running Windows Vista, or Windows XP, or something else on your laptop?

Perito- I appreciate you pointing the O.P in my direction but that was for a Netgear Router. I am unsure of the O.P's router.

O.P

Do you have the router set up? If so s there secuirty setup on it?

Once you've setup the security then you must configure you rlaptop to be running the same security protocol. You must know the SSID of your router, the Channel it's broadcasting (11 default) and the passcode you've issued.

If this sounds confusing we can go through it step by step.

What we need to know is the make and model of the router, your ISP type (cable or dsl), the operating system of your laptop.

Let us know!
