Hi tax experts,
I was in Georgia as an international student (from India) from Jan to Apr-end 2008 and have a W2 from an oncampus job here.
For rest of year (May to Dec 08 ) , I was working on CPT in Texas but for May to July my company wrongfully considered me as a GA resident and cut some 800 dollars as GA state tax. I informed my company and for rest of the year (Aug to Dec), I was considered a TX resident and no state tax was cut from my salary. The company has given me a letter stating that I was working in Austin, TX for the May to Dec 08 period.

My question is how do I get my wrongful GA Tax refunded in returns that I file ?
- by e-filing the taxes (which form?)
- or by writing a letter?

Please help.
Thanks,

File Georgia tax return as part year resident. Your Georgia income is income you earned during the period you were in Geogia. Attach letter from your employer. Read: Your U.S. Tax Return: Working or Living in Two or More states (http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/06/working-in-two-or-more-states.html)
