Doger- im giving you some proble causes< and answers on checking : i also am giving you some information on how to contact whirlpool by phone (800) number and (800) for canada and both web sites - #1- water inlet hoses kinked;; !a- reposition the hoses if kinked and hardened and set -replace:: #2- if drain hose is connected to a closed drain<on the house plumbing<the house plumbing (drains) may have a clogged area:: #2a- remove drain hose from the drain<
And run the machine with the hose in a bucket for just a minut< if the water drains out in to bucket easily< the house drain has a stopage : have drain cleaned out:: #3- the drain pumpis jammed or is plugged up ;#3a- unjam the pump(drain) or replace the pump if defective;; #4- the selector switch may be defictive or is set wrong:: #4a-to test the switch ;;( note) this must be done by a exper. Electrician or appliance repairman;; #5-timer switch- this is the same as the slector switch<to test:: #6- drain hose- does it fit in the drain stand pipe to tight? #6a- it should be loose but yet secure> do not seal the drain pipe or tape the drain closed <because it needs air inlet in order to function right:: #7- the lid switch- the lid needs to be closed properly in order for the machine to agiatate <spin, drain
#7a(- note)still have the power cord disconnected:: you will need a volt-ohm meter to test the lid switch::) #7b- raise the top of the washer<you will see the switch very easy< it will be either a button or a lever<mounted on the inside of the cabinet:: #7c- loosen the two mounting screws on the spray shield, remove the two wires gouing to the switch<(set the volt-ohm meter to the rx1scaleon the meter, #7d- clip the meter probs to the wire terminals< with your finger reach under the spray shield and activate the switch< #7e- if the meter reads (zero ohms) on the meter then the switch is good ::if it reads high it is defective-replave :: i even looked in my book on this washer in the trouble shooting part and some of theser ans.or out of it :: now some information you may wany ;; you can call customer interaction center , whitch is whirlpool:: in the usa- 1-800-253-1301::in canada -1-800-461

Everything checks, I checked the lid switch pushing it down with my car key, it starts and stops the spin cycle normally. The odd thing is it doesn't try to drain at all. It goes right from agiatate to spin. Normally it would agiatate, stop, click, the pump would come on, drain down the drum, then it would click, start to spin while continuing to pump, then stop, click and start to fill for the rinse cycle

dodger - it sounds like the timer switch has some badcam teeth on the
Cam wheel<wore down or some could be broke off <causeing a skip on the cam wheel on the timer switch . This switch ,timer, regulates the sequence of 9fill,drain,agitate and spin, to get to the switches you will have to remove the back panel off thecontrol panel,;; first of all unplug the power cord from the wall outlet or turn off breaker. This will depend on the make and model of the washer, and the year of it , on siome modles all these switches are inter connected and need to be a electrician, pluss have the wireing circuit diagram;;or call a appliance repairman:: the only thing you can really do will be to remove the wire terminals and check for burnt narks or clean the wire terminals with light sandpaper; and check for burnt places on the wire terminals :: to do this <remove the wires< next <take out retaining screws out and remove the timer .;; to check the timer cam teeth< dismount the timer from the control panel< if they have become rounded from wear <replace the timer:: after screwing the timer knob back on <turn it and look ionside it threw hole in upper top right corner and check the cam teeth:: i hope this helps you out with an answer to the problem :: have a good day <and god bless:: post back and let us know ::f.b.e. the
