Hi my name is Cassie. I have been trying for many years to lose weight without any success. I have tried all the fad diets with little success. I am hoping to find another alternative that will help me with my problem. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I am 50+ years old and desperate to better my health and look good. I am very limited on the exercises that I can do due to my weight but I am willing to try anything at this point to better my situation. :(

A friend of mine had fantastic results with Weight Watchers - the cost is low, she could still eat meals with her family as well as go out for meals, she had a great membership support group. She took the weight off and has kept it off for any number of years, using the WW maintenance plan.

At your age, I'm guessing that insulin is becoming an issue. I know a lot of women who have been eating low fat for years, because that's was the healthy option, but as you get older, your body becomes less efficient at handling refined carbs, and unfortunately most low fat foods are high in refined carbs.

I'd say if you add it up, you may not be eating enough protein for good health, and could be low in fats too.

Try basing your diet on fresh whole foods, and cut out anything with sugar as one of the first four ingredients. Also avoid transfat.

Each meal should have a quality protein, a healthy fat and a green vegetable.
