Hi there,

I am in the US on F2 visa since 2007 June. My spouse is on F1 from 2001 - till now. So my spouse is a resident alien now for tax purpose. I filed my W7 form for ITIN. But my application was rejected quoting the reason that there is some discrepancy in the address in line 3 of W7 form.

Here is a copy of formW7 (http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw7.pdf)

here is my question:

The line 3 on W7 form asks for foreign address. Which address should I write here?
Should I write the address of my home country(India) or Should I write the US address where I am residing for the last 2 years?
In my last application I wrote the address of my home country as it is in my passport.
Is that incorrect?

Could that be the reason for rejecting my ITIN?

OR

Are F2 visa holders not eligible for ITIN?

Please guide me.Thanks in advance.

You will get ITIN only if you file joint return as residents. Attach ITIN application with your tax return.
