WEll let me start by saying that my husband filed bankruptcy after we were married in 2005. 1 week before the Bk was filed a lien was put on the house for a vehicle that was given back to a lender. We did not know this till after the BK.The attorney no longer works for th elaw fiem that my husband used. We have been trying to conatct someone from the fiancé place to get the lien removed. My husband has been successful with conatcting the attorney who placed the lien but they tell us they can not get a response from the finace place who placed the lien. It has been determined that it is a genuine lien. We now have found out that a motion to remove the lien could have been filed at Bk time. That did not happen. My husband has been on time with payments and such. I am not on any house deed or loan for this property. He went back to the law firm who did the bk and they said that they can re-open the BK and add the house and that , that may be the best way to get out of this. If we do that would he be able to buy a house in the future and can any of this come back on me. We keep our finances separate. Thanks!

How much is the lien for? I've heard that you can reopen your bankruptcy case but that it may not be worth all the legal trouble.

The lien was for about 13thousand at the time but it accumulates interest every year and now it is like 17 or 18 thousand? We can take it back to court and pay fees to do so but it is not a guarantee that the judge would let us make a motion to remove it since it has been 3 years now. I did not file BK with hubby. We were only married a few months when he filed for past debt issues .We each keep our finances separate and no bills have both our names on it.
