View Full Version : I need a Drivers License
Stephenbk2006

I am in need of a drivers license. In June of 2006 I was arrested in W.Va.(USA) and bonded out, I then jumped bond and hualed out of the state. I have not returned since, nor have I showed up for a single court date, not even my prelim. I now live in Alabama and I have tried to get a DL, but this state will not grant me one until I take of the warrant in W.Va. W.Va. Is not willing to extradicte me from here, I know because I was arrested for selling alcohol to a minor. I spent 13days in jail waiting to be extradicted back to W.Va. only to be told they were not willing to come get me. My question is, is there any other state in the U.S.of A that will grant me a DL with an existing warrant in another state?

In one word - no.

Feb 20, 2009, 11:22 AM
No. Not until you clear up your outstanding warrants. Warrants do not expire either. You'll have to take care of them by going back to West Virginia. Just because they won't extradite you means you'll have to voluntarily go back at your expense and face your consequences.

I wouldn't worry too much about the license... you aren't going to need it for a while. Hop on a bus and head back home... this WILL haunt you forever.

I don't know what other answer you want from me. The answer is no. There are no loopholes.
There is no yes or maybe here.

There IS no Statute on warrants - they live forever.

In our age of computerization, all states have set up reciprocal arrangements to prevent such things.

Basically what scott was saying is that all state DMVs know what any of them do. If you got a speeding ticket in CA, the DMV in FL knows about it.

Stephen - You obviously came here wanting to get a "magic" answer to your question - and that's not going to happen, sorry. We don't give out magic loophole answers where there is no magic answer available.

Actually as far as I know there is not another state that will grant you license with that on your record. The best option you have is to have a family member or friend pay for a bus ticket back and just settle your problems sorry if you don't like that answer, but things like these never go away :)

Hello Stephen:
It might be possible to hire an attorney in W. Va. Who can take care of it without your presence. If all they want is MONEY, and your lawyer shows up with some, it MIGHT get handled that way.
Or not.

Thank you all for responding I have came to same conclusion as well, but thought that there may be some other way without having to go through all that BS, I am however working on getting a governors pardon and hiring a lawyer if that doesn't work

Your original question aside, I'd like to know why you're having so much trouble with this. Maybe your state laws are different than mine, but my husband's ex-wife did the same thing back in 2006. No arrest, no bond... she paid a $531.00 fine and that was it.

Hire a lawyer. You aren't going to get a governer's pardon... particularly since you haven't been convicted of anything yet.

As stevetcg said and point #2 on the above website states, you can't get pardoned if you're waiting for a hearing.

Um... yeah - that's not how the law works. You cannot be banned from a state. You will most likely get a fine, but that is not having the charge dropped, that is having it plead out.
Seriously... get a lawyer and stop listening to friends and family.

Well I am not going back-- ever, I am facing a 3 strikes law, with the min. a life sentence and the max. a life without and all that for a nonviolent crime. So if what all you are saying is true, then I am better off just placing my .45 to my head and pull the trigger.

Hello again, S:
If you're such a bad guy, why didn't they come to get you when they could?
I don't think THEY think you're such a bad guy, or they would have come. If you don't take care of if, you'll be put in jail again like you were last time, only to find out they don't still want you.

The charge is now a felony FTA because you skipped on the first charge, which was selling alcohol to minors. I cannot find any supporting documentation that states it's a felony to sell alcohol to minors; all I can find is citations being issued, nobody gets arrested.

After reading this, I'm seriously beginning to think this is a troll. First it started as he skipped out on court, then it turns into him being a felon on the run, now he's threatenin suicide?
A life sentence? Give me a break.

My charge of a Felony FTA is not for sale of alcohol to a minor its for B&E, Petty Larceny, and for Failure To Appear in court in W.Va.

This is a weird one. I'm also starting to think troll, but the level of detail gives me pause. I have trouble believing that WV would not want to send someone to AL to pick up a 3 timer, especially with this record.
There is also another issue. The OP posted another thread (which I removed for its racist overtones), in which he claimed to have called the police because a store wouldn't give him a refund on a cell phone. Can anyone imagine such an habitual criminal calling the police?

And that is when most likely you can get a new one, No there is no state that will issue you one,
And anytime you are stopped by the police the warrant will show up and you can get held again pending them to decide again if they will. You can be stopped and held pending a decission dozens of times.
But then on the other hand, they can't hold you for more than 1 hour to decide. After that if they decide to keep you the other state is suppose to come after you.

Look I am not perfect, I have totally learned from my mistakes, and I have been living in Alabama for 3 years, with no major trouble aside from a few minor traffic tickets, and that sale of alcohol incedent( by the way it was a sting operation by the local and state police force). I just want to live my life peacefully and quietly, I was just trying to reach out for some info on my current predictament, no matter how bad it is, I am not going to resort to crime ever again whatever the reason.

Except you haven't paid your debt for your previous crimes yet, so you don't get to just start over and be good from now on.
EVERYONE facing a long jail term wants a do over and just be good from now on. No one in prison is there planning on getting out and returning to a life of crime. Of course many of them do, but when asked, no one WANTS to go back to being a scumbag.
Pay your debt to society and THEN talk about being an upstanding citizen.
With a drivers license.

Feb 20, 2009, 04:26 PM
If you don't have a drivers license how did any traffic stop end up in just a "minor" traffic ticket, it would have been driving without a license, and not a minor issue.
But yes, you will be on the "run" and have trouble getting a good job, renting a good apartment because of a criminal record

And there is no issues to bring them back either.

Except for maybe computer IP addresses, And past known address when you were stopped for traffic offenses, and last known address when you were released from jail hold.
But I would assume the bounty on this would not be worth the trouble.

I know this is supposed to be the law board, but since I posted my answer to the question earlier today and just now read over the OP's continuing saga, I've got to get back on my chair here and stop laughing.
I, personally, think we've been trolled guys. He keeps adding more and more "stuff" to his story.
This guy if he is real is just a career criminal who is presently taking a 3 year hiatus from prison.
