While in the service, 15 years ago, my fiancé and I became pregnant. After I transferred from Great Lakes and so did he, the contact abruptly stopped. Believing I was abandoned, I never tried to contact him till this last year for our daughter's sake. After finding his family I found out he died while he was at home on leave. While his family is processing the information of his daughter, they refuse to talk of the circumstances surrounding his death, to the point they have shut down communication. How do I find out how he died? He was from and died in El Paso Texas. They said from drowning, yet he was a trained under water bomb technician for the military. Any help would be so appreciated and hopefully could help in the healing process for myself and my family. Thank you

In El Paso, death records are public after 25 years. Prior to that, only a family member, proving relationship, can get a copy of the record...

... so chumming up to his family may be the only way to get that info at this time.
