My families home was foreclosed and went through a forced physical eviction, I filed a complaint with the State of Michigan Banking and Insurance regulatory agency over this company over their practices. They have been investigating the company and we have exchanged paperwork a couple of times. I just received a letter from the company stating that they wanted me to verify---account number, last payment made and mortgage balance to their audit firm----Plante moran, and it was classified as a commercial loan. We were evicted in June of 08, with a balance of about 40,000 on a 110,000 house (we were in negotiation with a lawyer at the time to try to restructure the loan but the mortgage company wanted 11,000 cash in about 7 days, we couldn't come up with). We found out later that the house was sold for $5,000. Why are they requesting this info? Why would they send it to a street address that we no longer occupy ( they would certainly know this)?? The only reason that I got the letter was that I have a POB still in that town to receive mail, until we find another residence. Does anyone have any info and what this is all about?

Sounds like the investigation as resulted in an audit of their books. So the independent auditor is looking to confirm the information.

Did you give them a forwarding? If not, they may only have the address of the property and sent it there figuring you may have left a forwarding with the PO.

I would respond with the info requested.
