Hi gents ,
What kind of precautions and expertise should be taken in order to replace shafts and bearings in the easiest way on belt drive squirrel cage . Your comments will be appreciated .

If the blower wheel is dirty, now would be a good time to take it out of the housing and spray it out with water (your garden hose with a nozzle will do nicely). Pay attention to which direction the wheel faces in the housing. Handle the new shaft with care to avoid nicks and/or scratches that can score the bearings during assembly. If the new shaft must be cut to the correct length, use a good file to smooth the edges of the cut end. Apply bearing assembly lube to the shaft prior to insertion, and install vertically if at all possible. Install new thrust spacers, and don't press the thrust collars together too tightly. Center the blower wheel in the housing and don't over-tighten the set screws. Shaft contact + 1/2 turn should do it.

If the bearings have what is called face lock rings with small set screws make sure to tighten them by turning them in the oposote rotation of the sheft and lock the set screw.
