I am building a new shower. I have laid my sub base and my liner and the top base coat and found that the drain pipe was not level. I need to level the drain so I can lay my tile is there a kit out there to do this so I do not have to rip my concrete out to do it.

Yes, prep-work is very important. Pipe has to point straight up so you end up with leveled drain cover. Now it is too late to reposition it - unless you are on raised foundation, second floor with access under neath or want to break the shower pan.

But you can do this: Go to Home Depot and get new Drain Cover with 4 1/4" frame. (See photo ). Build up your tile about 1/8" higher than the highest point of the drain. When you get to the drain, set the frame into thin set at the level of tile. Level it. Disregard the old drain and toss the old cover - you are setting the new frame over the existing drain. Fill possible space between old and new drain with thin set. When dry, install new drain cover into the frame.


Now this will not work with all drains - but if you post a photo of your existing shower drain than I will tell you right away if it does.
