Hello. I'm considering purchasing a chest freezer and placing it in the garage. However, I live in NH where winters can be quite cold (single digits and teens for several days on end). Is there any danger of the freezer malfunctioning due to the cold ambient temperatures that could occur in the garage? Thanks!

Better to put the freezer in the basement where it won't be subjected to the below zero temperatures. My neighbor has a freezer in his unheated shed now for years and he said he did not have any problems with it. We live in Northern Ohio where it can get well below zero many days in the winter.

I used one "up north" for some time and never had any probem. Well except things being stolen, but a basement is a better choice
