I have a book that has no copyright date. It appears to be quite old. When did copyright dating start? What is the best way to find out how old this book is?
Thanks.

There should be a date somewhere -- title page, verso page, inside back pages. Is there any number on those pages? If so, type it here and I will try to figure out the copyright/print date for you. (I'm a librarian.)

Hi, dotwk!
What is the name of the book? What does the binding look like and what kind of edges do the pages have, please?
It's true that if you do have the information that Wondergirl has requested, that she most likely will be able to tell you something about the age of the book.
You can find a history of copyrighting by clicking on the following link.
