My parents got a line of credit and used the home as calateral. Needless to say, they couldn't pay it back soon after had a lien put against there home. The ended up filing for bankpruptcy but for some reason Im not sure of they couldn't do anything with the lien against there home. My question is, is there a limit (Of years) that the lien against there house remains active? It has been about 6-7 years since the lien was put on there home. They both are in there late 40's early 50's. I'm asking cause when they die and we sell there home (cause none of us kids need the home) would we then need to pay off the lien. There's got to be a limit on how long a judgement can remain on a home. Please help.

Can a credit card company or jewelry company put a lien on your house?
