What internet device are you trying to add?
When it says to put in the installation CD, try putting in the installation CD for the device rather than the windows cd.

Read the directions closely for the device you are installing. It may be that you need to install the software for it before attaching it.

If a hardware install is asking for an installation CD, it's the CD that came with the hardware not the Windows CD. Also, a device needed to connect to the Internet is unlikely to need to connect to install files.

Therefore, leaving out what exactly you are trying to install, doesn't let us help you. Also, if you get any messages, you should reproduce them EXACTLY. Posting what you think the message said may be different.

Finally, please don't type in all caps, its considered shouting and many have problems reading that way.

If you don't have the driver cd for this device you will need to find a computer with internet access, visit the manufacturers site and download the driver to install onto your machine.

Gateway include a recovery CD that restores the PC to its factory settings. Did you use that?
