The centrifugal clutch on my Troy Bilt weed eater TB475ss is stuck. When the engine is running, the shaft will not spin. I can rotate shaft when not connected to clutch. I need removal instructions to separate the clutch from the engine.

I found the answer in a post about another brand. There is a Torx screw inside the clutch shaft. The size is listed as T-25 or T-27, I am not sure which is correct. It requires a thin Torx driver which I have not yet found in the stores.

My clutch is now operating properly with no other intervention than removing the housing. After several re-installations of the housing, it appears that the problem was a mis-alignment between the drive shaft and the clutch shaft. Unit is now working properly.

More than likely it is a broken shaft. The "bell" on the fly-bar clutch always will turn freely until fast spinning fly-bars engage it.

Opps forgot to tell you how to remove the clutch, just in case you need to

Use T5 screwdriver to remove the bell. Insert a 3/16 rope piece into the cylinder through spark plug hole to jamb rotation and off the fly-bar unit (look at removal arrows) with a large slip joint plier. Examine flywhell key for damage.
