My system has a Heat Pump and Emergency heat back up. I want to replace the thermostat but need help, as I don't work on heat pumps very often. Ok, her is the color wires I have coming out of the wall and connected to my old thermostat.
Red wire connected to (R)
Green wire connected to (G)
Orange connected to (O)
White connected to (W2)
Yellow connected to (Y)
Black connected to (E)
This is how it is hooked up now and works fine. It is digital and the one I want to put in is also digital, non programmable.
Here is the new thermostat hook up posts
(W2)
(E)
(O/B)
(R)
(L)
(G)
(C)
(Y)
Can someone tell me how to properly wire this so it works. The old and new one both have batteries to install in them, can we wire to run on 24volt and have batteries as only back up too? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the mopdel info on each. The old model is a LUXPRO, Model DM2110 Ver 1.5 or 210504D
The new one is a White-Rogers Economy 1F79-111 Prop Spec #70h0W
Thanks

Looks pretty easy, but the new one may require a "C" connection. Are there any additional/unused wires? If so, use one for "C" and connect it to the "C" terminal at the other end (indoor unit). "L" is unused. After installation, check instructions for any additional configuration that may be required.

Hey KC13,

Thanks for posting a answer for me. First off there are 2 extra wires on the line to the Thermostat and are wrapped around as extra's. One is (looks like bronze) color, and the other is a Blue wire. I just checked the Furnace inside for wire matching. And here it goes. It looks the there is a Brown and Red wire coming from Transformer to Thermostat and Heatpump wire harness. And from there they used the Red wires from harnesses to the red on Transformer and the Blue wires from harnesses to the Brown wire on the Thermosat. Also the Brown wire from transformer has a (C) taped on it, and Red wire from transformer has a (R) taped to it.
Then the Black and white from thermostat harness and White wire from Heatpump harness are going to the Violet wire that has a (W) taped to it in the furnace.
The Orange wires from both harnesses are connected together.
The Yellow wire from both harnesses are connected together.
The greeen wire from thermostat harness is connected to a white wire with a (G) taped on it on the circuit board for furness.

That's it, that is how the wiring is. So it looks like from the thermostat wires from the furnace (Air Handler) to the thermostat I am using are using all the wires except the blue one! The Blue one is hooked up in the Air handeler to the transformer but not at the thermostat. So now you know the exect placement of wires and where they go to. Now can you tell me where the wires go to on the new therostat?

Wow, sounds like malfunction junction. Use the blue for "C" connection to thermostat.
