I have a PF single-handled bathtub diveter and a bathtub spout without any diverter control. It is about 8 yrs old. You have to turn the handle to select the hot and cold water and then pull the acrylic knob to get the water to the overhead shower. The problem is that most of the water still goes to the bathtub spout and very little to the shower head. What should I investigate. How do I remove the cartridge from the housing ? Is there an exploded diagram for guidance ?
If I replace the bathtub spout with a diverter type, will this be an OK solution ?
Thanks for the help.

The acrylic knob is attached to the temp control mechanism. It is above the spout. I do not have a model number. However, I went to look at it again yesterday and found that the spout does have a diverter built in already. It looks like the rubber O-ring an dthe plastic diverter mechanism are worn. I have replaced the spout with a new one and it seems to be working OK. The acrylic handle just turn the water on or off by pulling/pushing and the temp. Luckily this part is OK. I am not sure how or what I would replace it with if it had been damaged. Thank you for your reply.
